My experience is your advantage.

Jim Brakken is the founder and Past President of the Cable Lakes Association, founder of the Bayfield County Lakes Forum and Past President and Director Emeritus of the Wisconsin Association of Lakes. An advocate for youth water education, Jim designed Operation LEAP, the Lake Education and Appreciation Program for Wisconsin elementary students.

Recognizing a need for a summer lakes conference in northwestern Wisconsin, Brakken inspired and launched what is now the Northwest Lakes Conference, now entering its seventh year. A frequent contributor to the LAKE CONNECTION and other periodicals, he conducts workshops on lake newsletters, websites and other lake management skills.

In March of 2001, Jim Brakken was honored with the Wisconsin Lakes Partnership’s Lake Stewardship Award for his continued effort for safe, clean, healthy lakes through his teaching, writing and participation in lake management organizations on the local, county and state levels.

Jim is a shoreland restoration and property management consultant and recently retired teacher. He is an experienced builder and helps educate others about waterfront landscaping and responsible property management.

He was recently elected to represent Bayfield County at the Wisconsin Conservation Congress
